BOARD MEMBERS

Charles Béraud
For Charles Béraud, volunteerism is genetic. His mother set the best example possible in being involved in the community throughout her entire life. “I was born in a country where there were little to no possibilities, immigrated to a country where everything is possible. This great fortune comes with the responsibility to give back to the community that has welcomed me,” she would say. In addition, she instilled in Charles the notion that “everything we have in life comes at the very root of it all from a most random of lotteries, to be born of the parents we are born of, in the country we are born in.” While his mother influenced the organizations for which he began volunteering (Retirement Facilities and Accueil Parrainage Outaouais) in Canada, Charles set out on his own volunteerism path at the age of 17, becoming involved in politics, AIDS charities and Pride organizations. In Ottawa, he served on the Pride organization committee and assisted with the AIDS Walk post-walk celebration and show. In Toronto, he helped with the Out of the Cold Program, AIDS Committee of Toronto’s annual Dancers for Life gala, and several election campaigns. In Montreal, he was involved with the Robin des Bois Restaurant, Jean-François Thibault election campaign, E=MC2 event and Image+Nation Festival. And most recently, in Las Vegas, Charles has served on the Human Rights Campaign Steering Committee and The Center’s Honorarium and ARTrageous committees, not to mention his heavy involvement in RagTag Entertainment, a non-profit performance troupe. Charles has worked as the Public Affairs Coordinator, Global Citizenship Service, for Cirque du Soleil since 2005, in both Montreal and Las Vegas.
