JUDY SHEPARD TO PRESENT THE 2007 CENTER YOUTH AWARD
The Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Southern Nevada (The Center) invites you to join the Center Board of Directors and our members as Judy Shepard presents The Center’s inaugural Youth Award to Joshua Snipper on September 7, 2007, at 6:00PM at The Center.
Who: The Center Board of Directors; Judy Shepard and the 2007 Youth Award Recipient.

The Center established the Youth Award to annually recognize a young person in our community who has contributed to furthering equality for the GLBT community.
Judy Shepard is the mother of Matthew Shepard, who was murdered in an anti-gay hate crime in 1998 in Wyoming where he was a 21-year-old college student. Following their son’s death, Judy and her husband Dennis established the Matthew Shepard Foundation. Created to honor Matthew in a manner that was appropriate to his dreams, beliefs and aspirations, the Foundation seeks to "Replace Hate with Understanding, Compassion & Acceptance" through its varied educational, outreach and advocacy programs and by continuing to tell Matthew's story. |
