GLBT ISSUES SUMMIT AND CAUCUS TRAINING
Meeting Held to Focus GLBT Agenda for 2008
(October 13, 2007—Las Vegas) Presidential Candidates Governor Bill Richardson and Senator Mike Gravel will attend a summit on Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender (GLBT) issues today at the Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Southern Nevada. Ann Lewis, a senior advisor for Sen. Hillary Clinton, also will attend. All of the Democratic presidential candidates were invited to participate.
The summit will be free and open to the public, and will feature nationally known speakers who will brief participants on the status of GLBT issues including the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, Marriage Equality, Immigration, and more. Using the same caucus process employed by the Nevada State Democratic Party to select Nevada ’s choice for the Democratic Presidential Nominee in the caucus to be held in January 2008, participants will determine which of the issues presented are most pressing to the GLBT community.
The summit is sponsored by the Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Southern Nevada, the Human Rights Campaign, the Stonewall Democrats, and the Nevada State Democratic Party to inform and educate participants in the caucus process.
Senator Gravel will speak at 2:15pm followed by Governor Richardson at 2:30pm .
