Social and Support Groups
A variety of social and support groups, official programs of The Center and more informal groups alike, use the variety of meeting spaces at The Center to bring together like-minded individuals of every gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age and interest throughout the month. Use the list below to find the perfect group to join and make new friends for life.
Asexual Group
The Asexual Group is an all-ages supportive discussion group and safe space to discuss asexual issues. Allies are welcome to attend. Meetings are every Wednesday, 6:30-7:30 p.m. at The Center.
Gay Men’s Forum
The Gay Men’s Forum is designed to promote self-discovery through personal exploration in a safe, informal environment. This group is open to men 21 and over who identify as gay or bisexual. Wednesdays, 6-7:30 p.m.
L-Group
The L-Group is a non-age specific social group for women. The group goes on outings, has discussions and holds movie nights, game nights, poker nights and more. Meetings are held Fridays, 7-8 p.m. at The Center. Sign up for the weekly L-Group Newsletter by e-mailing cincin1958@earthlink.net.
Out of the (Gender) Box
Out of the (Gender) Box is a bi-weekly discussion group that provides safe space for folks who identify outside of (or don’t quite fit into) the ‘male’ and ‘female’ boxes assigned to us by society. Discussion topics focus on the many different ways in which gender impacts and shapes our lives and what it is like to exist as individuals and a community that refuse to be confined to boxes that we didn’t create. People of all gender identities and expressions are welcome to attend. Meetings are held every other Tuesday, 7-8 p.m.
Trans.lation
Built upon the concept of celebrating people of all gender identities and expressions, Trans.lation provides support and community-building opportunities for transgender people and their loved ones of all ages. The Center has long seen gaps in services for the Southern Nevada transgender community. Trans.lation was developed in response to this pressing need and continues to provide much-needed support and visibility to the transgender and gender non-conforming members of our community. Fridays, 5:30-6:30 pm.
Vegas Mpowerment Project
Vegas MPowerment Project enriches and strengthens 18-29 year old gay, bisexual and transgender men's pride about who they are and encourages them to explore and celebrate their sexuality by not just focusing on condom use but by including a wide variety of safer sex behaviors. The Vegas MPowerment Project creates settings where young men can express their identities with each other, find support, and band together to take action on issues of importance to them. Vegas Mpowerment meets every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7 p.m. To learn more, visit the following sites:
