Equality Days | April 21-22 | Carson City, NV
SCHOLARSHIPS
The Stand OUT for Equality Campaign’s Equality Days at the Nevada Legislature wants an inclusive participation by every demographic classification. Since our current economic situation may present financial difficulty for some members of our community, we will have a limited number of scholarships available to offset travel, meals and accommodation costs. These scholarships will be awarded by the scholarship committee based on financial need and will also consider the applicant’s background giving additional weight to those that provide expanded representation of diversity from our queer community.
APPLICATION FORMAT, PROCESS AND DEADLINE
Provide a written request by email to adrianmj@cox.net no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2009*. It is recommended to submit as soon as possible. Early submissions will be reviewed upon receipt and notified appropriately. Scholarships will be awarded dependant on funds available at time of request.
Your written request should include an explanation why you want to attend, why it is a financial hardship and why your attendance would provide diversity to our community’s representation. Please include your full name, telephone number, mail address and email address so we may contact you. The Scholarship Chair will not share your identity with the Scholarship Committee in order to protect the applicant’s privacy.
Please answer the following questions in your written request.
• Explain your financial need.
• Provide details to how much financial assistance you will need. Will you need a full scholarship or a partial?
• Are you retired?
• Are you a student?
• Are you willing to share a room?
• Are you willing to travel by automobile, van or bus (approximately an 8 hour drive one way)?
• Should the total cost including food be $178.00 (prices subject to availability at time of booking), how much financial assistance would you require?
• What do you bring to our community that broadens our community’s diversity? (such as your ethnicity, race, age, gender or gender identity or expression, education, physical limitations or other life experience that provides a unique point of view).
* If you submit on Friday, April 10, 2009, you will be notified before Tuesday, April 14, 2009. If you do not receive a response by that time, please contact Marlene at 702-327-7005. If you are awarded a scholarship, you will receive instructions for registration at that time.
